WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Reyes signed at age 17. He’s a lefty who throws 88-91 and mixes in a slider, curve and change.
2018 Pitching mostly as a starter, Reyes had a solid first season. He had some issues with walks, but his K rate was decent and he held opponents to a .216 average. Left-handed batters had just a 193/292/211 line against him. 2019 Reyes pitched out of the Bristol bullpen, except for one spot start. He pitched a little better than his ERA, with much improved control. He had a reverse platoon split. 2020 2021 Reyes took a step backward. Pitching in relief in the FCL, his control was worse than ever. He missed a lot more bats, but opponents put up an .858 OPS against him. The damage mostly came in a very bad July, but the control was a problem throughout. Reyes will be 23 when the 2022 season starts and needs to win a spot at Bradenton. |
