WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
The Pirates signed Yang to a minor league deal for 2014 with an invitation to major league spring training. Yang is from Taiwan and has pitched for Taipei in the World Baseball Classic, as well as pitching in Japan. He used to throw in the mid-90s, but now throws in the low-90s, with a slider that serves as his out pitch. He also throws a curve and change. He’s had shoulder and hamstring problems. Yang wasn’t on any roster at the start of the season, but presumably he’ll go to Indianapolis or Altoona at some point. |
