Harrison is the older brother of current Pirates Josh Harrison.  He’s a bigger guy than Josh and, unlike his younger brother, showed solid power early in his career with the Devil Rays, and also eventually developed a good eye at the plate.  He tended to be old for his levels, though, and was derailed by injuries at the time when he needed to be getting experience in the upper minors.  As a result, he never got beyond AA and ended up in independent ball for three years.

A-:  305/361/381, 197 AB, 10 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 16 BB, 34 K, 4-8 SB

Had a good debut in the NYPL as a secondbaseman.

A-:  260/367/360, 50 AB, 2 2B, 1 HR, 8 BB, 8 K, 1-1 SB
A:  210/290/323, 62 AB, 1 2B, 2 HR, 5 BB, 16 K, 3-3 SB
A+:  250/302/319, 116 AB, 2 2B, 2 HR, 9 BB, 28 K

Harrison played briefly at three levels, mainly at third.  This probably indicated that Tampa Bay regarded him as an organizational player.

A:  275/348/449, 488 AB, 20 2B, 4 3B, 19 HR, 53 BB, 90 K, 16-23 SB

Spent the season playing third in the SAL.  He hit for good power, but at 23 he was old for the league.

A+:  281/399/484, 256 AB, 17 2B, 1 3B, 11 HR, 45 BB, 49 K, 8-13 SB
AA:  266/372/402, 184 AB, 6 2B, 2 3B, 5 HR, 24 BB, 34 K, 5-8 SB

Harrison hit well in the high-offense California League, then finished the season in AA.  He didn’t show the same power there, but still showed a good eye at the plate.

Texas selected Harrison from the Devil Rays in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft, but he broke his hand, costing him the whole season.  Texas released him in the spring and Boston eventually signed him in August.

He got selected again in the minor league Rule 5 draft, this time with St. Louis taking him from Boston.  Once again, though, he never played for his new team.  This time it was due to surgery on a torn quadriceps muscle.

A+ (Fla):  297/329/392, 74 AB, 1 2B, 2 HR, 5 BB, 12 K
AA (Fla):  264/333/407, 91 AB, 4 2B, 3 HR, 9 BB, 14 K, 1-2 SB

AA (NYM):  268/343/362, 127 AB, 6 2B, 2 HR, 13 BB, 23 K, 0-3 SB

Harrison signed to play with the Marlins, but missed part of the year due to injury once again.  Florida released him in late July and the Mets immediately signed him.  He played the rest of the season with their AA affiliate.  He played mainly third, but also saw time at second and in left.

IND:  319/387/464, 386 AB, 25 2B, 2 3B, 9 HR, 44 BB, 52 K, 12-20 SB

Spent the year in the independent Northern League, having a solid season at the plate.

IND (Schaumberg):  338/414/475, 219 AB, 13 2B, 1 3B, 5 HR, 29 BB, 24 K, 8-10 SB
IND (Joliet):  282/354/310, 71 AB, 2 2B, 8 BB, 8 K, 1-1 SB
IND (Winnipeg):  306/382/735, 49 AB, 3 2B, 6 HR, 6 BB, 6 K, 0-1 SB

Harrison played for three different Northern League teams and again had a good year.

IND (Winnipeg):  268/318/370, 370 AB, 17 2B, 7 HR, 25 BB, 45 K, 5-7 SB
IND (York):  362/388/489, 47 AB, 3 2B, 1 HR, 2 BB, 10 K

Harrison played most of the year back in the Northern League, but didn’t have as good a season.  He finished with ten games in the Atlantic League.

Harrison was one of half a dozen veteran minor leaguers the Pirates signed as player/coaches in November 2011.  He’s unlikely to see an action on the field.
