The Marlins moved Andino up to full season ball, where he played short and struggled severely at the plate.

Andino spent about two thirds of the year at low A, then moved up.  He started hitting for average, but continued to have serious problems with the strike zone.  Baseball America rated him the Marlins’ ninth best prospect anyway, mainly on the strength of his defense.

Andino continued largely along the same lines in AA, although he did cut his strikeout rate significantly and raise his walk rate a little.  The Marlins brought him up in September.

Andino had largely the same season in AAA.  He got a brief callup in May and also played a little in September.

Andino went back to AAA and hit better, with surprising power.  He was, however, playing at Albuquerque in the Pacific Coast League.  He got into only seven major league games.  By this time, the Marlins had Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla in their middle infield, so there was no apparent spot for Andino.

2008

Andino spent the first half of the season with Florida, almost entirely serving as a pinch hitter.  The Marlins sent him to AAA at the end of July, although he returned in September.  At the end of spring training the following year, the Marlins traded Andino to Baltimore.

2009

Andino spent the season with Baltimore, mostly just spelling Cesar Izturis at short.  He played regularly in June, when Izturis was hurt.  Andino obviously hit very little, but according to UZR played well defensively.

The Orioles designated Andino for assignment at the end of spring training.  He spent the season in AAA, hitting decently with some power.  The Orioles called him back up in September.

2011

Andino spent most of the season playing regularly for the Orioles.  He primarily played second, with Brian Roberts hurt, but he also saw time at short and third.

2012

Andino continued as the Orioles’ primary secondbaseman, as Brian Roberts continued to be hurt most of the time.  Andino hit very little this time.  The Orioles shipped him to Seattle in the off-season.

Seattle used Andino as a utility infielder until late May, when they designated him for assignment.  He remained with them in AAA, hitting very little at either level.  After the Pirates acquired him he played shortstop regularly in AAA throughout August.  He hit well for the Indians.

2014

Andino became a free agent after the 2013 season, but re-signed with the Pirates and spent the entire season playing shortstop at Indianapolis.  He had a horrible season offensively, especially in the early going.  He had a .506 OPS before the AAA All-Star break and .708 after.  Whether because of Andino’s bad start or not, when the Pirates needed a utility infielder they repeatedly opted for Michael Martinez rather than Andino.

Andino will be a free agent again after the season.  Presumably, he won’t be inclined to re-sign with a team that preferred Martinez to him.
