WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES

Perez is a good defensive player with some speed.  He was a little old when he signed and, early on, faced the disadvantage of competition for playing time from Adrian Valerio and Raul Siri.

2014
DSL:  302/457/340, 106 AB, 4 2B, 25 BB, 13 K, 11-12 SB

Perez made good contact and got on base a lot in his debut, but showed little power.  With Raul Siri at second and Adrian Valerio at short, he played only part-time, more at second than short.

2015
R:  213/250/225, 80 AB, 1 2B, 2 BB, 16 K, 2-4 SB

The Pirates assigned Perez to the GCL in 2015.  With Valerio and Siri there, he got only semi-regular playing time, divided between second, third and short, in that order.  He didn’t hit at all.

2016
INJURED

Perez missed the season with a shoulder injury.

2017
R+:  216/343/276, 116 AB, 5 2B, 1 3B, 20 BB, 25 K, 7-12 SB

The Pirates played Perez semi-regularly at Bristol.  He started about 40% of the team’s games at short, essentially sharing the position with Kyle Watson, and also saw time at second and third, and even a couple games at first.  Other than drawing walks, he didn’t do much at the plate.

Perez seems likely to move into a utility role at the lower levels.
