SCOUTING REPORT
|
| There aren’t a lot of pitchers who fall in the consensus range of where the Pirates pick (9th and 14th). Crawford is one of the few who is ranked in that range by several outlets. The right-hander threw a no-hitter in the NCAA tournament last year, then went on to pitch for Team USA. He throws his fastball in the mid-90s, touching 96. He pairs that with what Baseball America calls a “filthy slider”. There are questions about his delivery, but he’s got two plus-pitches to work with, which makes him worthy of an early-to-middle round pick. |
