WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
Munoz is a very small switch-hitter who’s played all three outfield positionsand also a little at third. He hit well in theVSL, but not after moving to the DSL. He steals a lot of bases but also gets thrown out a lot.
2011 Munoz played mostly left in the VSL and hit for a high average and got on base a lot. He obviously wasn’t an efficient base stealer. 2012 The DSL was more of a challenge for Munoz. He didn’t hit much, but continued to draw walks. He also continued to get thrown out a lot on the bases. He split his time among the three outfield spots and also played a little at third. 2013 Munoz must have been hurt as he played in only four games. 2014 Munoz opened the season in the GCL, but the Pirates moved him up after five games, possibly due to Ulises Montilla being lost for the season. Munoz spent most of his time at third and just held his own at the plate. Munoz will probably serve as a lower level utility player, possibly at Morgantown in 2015. Because he was 19 when he signed, he’s already eligible for the Rule 5 draft. |
