He spent the 2019 season at Glendale Community College, where he was their staff ace. In 13 starts, he pitched a total of 80.1 innings, which was 14 more than the second highest total on the team. McCarville had a 2.02 ERA, with 66 hits, 27 walks and 74 strikeouts. As a freshman at Glendale in 2018, he led the team with 82.1 innings. He posted a 3.06 ERA, with 60 strikeouts.
