Moore pitched for USU Eastern, a junior college, in 2011, then took two years off before pitching for them again in 2014. He wasn’t drafted and the Pirates signed him as a free agent. The school appears to play in a high offense environment, so his numbers are impressive. Moore throws a slider, a change and a fastball that touches 90. Given his height, the Pirates probably are hoping he’ll add velocity.
