Weidman throws anywhere from the mid-80s to 92, and had good peripheral numbers in 2010 in JC ball.  He seemed to be eager to sign and did so not long after the draft.

2010
R:  0-1-0, 5.62 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 8 IP, 3.4 BB/9, 4.5 K/9 

Got into four GCL games and pitched reasonably well in brief action, better than the ERA indicates.  He suffered a broken jaw in an off-field accident in mid-July and finished the season on the disabled list.

Opened at State College but struggled badly.  The Pirates moved him down to the GCL, where he pitched in the rotation the rest of the season.  He pitched reasonably well without dominating.  He allowed the same number of hits as he had innings pitched, he walked very few, and his K rate was on the low side.

Weidman will probably return to State College in 2012.
