| Wallace wasn’t rated on any of the overall top prospect lists, but Baseball America rated him the 14th best prospect in Mississippi in what BA saw as an average group. Wallace added some weight to his frame between 2012 and 2013, going from 194 pounds to 205. His power numbers may have gone up as a result, going from a .107 ISO to a .212 ISO. He hits for average and has good strike zone judgment, with about as many walks and strikeouts in 2013. He is also effective on the bases, stealing 27 bases in 31 attempts in his two years at Hinds CC. Wallace signed shortly after the draft.
2013 The Pirates assigned Wallace initially to Jamestown, but he was overmatched there. They moved him down to the GCL, but he struggled there, too. He also had error problems at third, committing ten in 29 games overall. Wallace didn’t get off to a good start. If he’s back next year, it’ll be somewhere in short season ball. |
