Landecker played regularly, but not every day, until his senior year. As a senior, he put up solid numbers across the board, apart from a low walk rate. He led USC in batting average, while showing some pop in his bat that wasn’t around his first three years. He also led the team in batting as a junior. Landecker played second, third and short for the Trojans. As a senior, he signed quickly.
2013 The Pirates sent Landecker to the GCL initially. It hasn’t been their pattern under the current front office to send college draftees to rookie league, but for some reason they sent a number of them there in 2013. Landecker didn’t do much in the GCL beyond draw walks. After he was promoted to Jamestown in mid-August, he didn’t do that, either. Defensively, he played mainly third at both stops, with a few games at second. 2014 Landecker bounced back and forth between West Virginia and extended spring training, and also missed some time due to injury. He played in only 37 games scattered throughout the season, all for the Power and most at third and first. He didn’t hit much. Landecker figures to be a utility player in class A in 2015. |
