WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
The Pirates, beset by a flood of injuries at Bradenton, acquired Davis from Cleveland for future considerations. GM Neal Huntington was probably familiar with Davis from his tenure there.
2006-09: Aside from mildly encouraging 2007 season in low A, never did anything with Indians to live up to early round draft status. Showed little at plate apart from fairly good strike zone judgment. Played all over the field for Cleveland, including attempt to convert to catcher in 2008. 2010: After continuing to struggle early in season, Davis after being acquired became Marauderss starter at third due to injury to Jeremy Farrell. When Farrell returned briefly in August, played a little at second. While with Bradenton, hit for a decent average and got on base, but showed no power at all. Davis is not eligible for minor league free agency, so he could return as a utility player, most likely at Bradenton. |
