Former Pirate OF Gregory Polanco will get a cup of coffee in Japan, according to a report:
Gregory Polanco is very close to reaching an agreement in the Japanese Baseball League. Pending physical, per @TenchyRodNYC.@z101digital @ZDeportes pic.twitter.com/ImHpPz5yez

Polanco, 30, was released by the Pirates on August 28 after hitting .208/.283/.354 this past season. He was signed to a minor league contract by the Blue Jays on August 31 and hit .374/.436/.747 in 24 games with Triple-A Buffalo.
Once considered a cornerstone player in Pittsburgh, no MLB team was apparently willing to pony up the dollars or playing time that Polanco was seeking.
