According to Ken Rosenthal, the Pittsburgh Pirates avoided arbitration with outfielder Ben Gamel, who will get $1.8M in 2022, with a chance to earn another $200,000 if he reaches incentives. Gamel hit .247/.347/.388 in 122 games in 2021, which was worth -0.3 WAR due to poor defensive numbers. This is his last season before free agency.
The Pirates have signed outfielder Ben Gamel to a one-year, $1.8M contract with the chance to earn $100K for 450 plate appearances and $100K for 550, source tells @TheAthletic.

Expect to hear more arbitration cases avoided today. I’ll add them here.
