This is big news here as Chen has dominated in the FCL. For those who don’t know, the Pirates made multiple trades to acquire international bonus pool space so that they were able to sign Chen. They wouldn’t have been able to get a deal done with him during the 2020-21 signing period because they already had deals in place for a large majority of their bonus pool, plus trades for more bonus pool space are not allowed this year. Chen hasn’t walked a batter yet in pro ball.
UPDATE: The Pirates have placed JT Brubaker on the 10-day injured list with a right thumb contusion and activated Bryse Wilson from the injured list. He is expected to start tonight, but it hasn’t been announced yet (update will be the lineups). Wouldn’t be surprised if Brubaker isn’t just getting a rest and he just misses the one start.
