NEWS AND RUMORS

Follow along throughout the day as we provide updates and commentary on the daily Pirates news, along with links to stories around Pittsburgh Baseball Network.

The Pirates released veteran pitcher Steven Wright yesterday. He has struggled all year in Indianapolis, finishing up with a 6.68 ERA and a 1.86 WHIP in 63.1 innings. Being a knuckleball pitcher, it allowed them to use him in various roles when they needed an arm, but with the season winding down now, they should be good on innings. John Nogowski is in Indianapolis now in case they need some filler innings (I’m only half kidding)

Chad Kuhl has been activated from the COVID injured list and added to the active roster. Cody Ponce was sent to the minors yesterday, so there was no need for a move today.
