Pirates Game Discussion: Pirates at Reds, 7:10 PM

The Pittsburgh Pirates (41-67) are on the road for four games against the Cincinnati Reds (57-51), with game one starting tonight at 7:10 PM. The Pirates are sending out Wil Crowe, who will be making his 16th start on the season. He has a 5.40 ERA in 71.2 innings, with 66 strikeouts and a 1.51 WHIP. The Reds are countering with right-handed pitcher Sonny Gray, who will be making his 16th start. He has a 4.26 ERA in 76 innings, with 96 strikeouts and a 1.38 WHIP.

After yesterday’s game, the Pirates optioned Shea Spitzbarth to Indianapolis and activated Anthony Banda.

Umpire Scorecard. Overall it wasn’t a bad game, but the biggest call of the game was a tough one. Gregory Polanco drew a walk in the ninth only to have the 3-0 pitch called a strike and it really wasn’t close. That would have put the tying run on base for Bryan Reynolds, which we all know never happened
