The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to a deal with third round draft pick Bubba Chandler, keeping him from a commitment to Clemson. Jason Mackey broke the news first, along with announcing a reported $3 M price tag, which has been confirmed by other sources.
There is also word that Chandler will be allowed to hit, though his main position is still as a pitcher.
This deal is pending a physical still, so we will update this post if it becomes official today.
Here’s Chandler’s player page.
UPDATE: While it appears that Chandler will be announced tomorrow, the Pirates announced this evening that they have signed 17th round pick Carlos Lomeli and 19th round pick Drew Irvine, both college right-handed pitchers.
