Will Craig Heads to South Korea

Jeeho Yo reports that Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Will Craig will play the rest of this season for the Kiwoom Heroes of the KBO in South Korea. He was acquired from the Pirates yesterday and signed for $371,000 for the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old first round pick from 2016 played 20 games over the last two seasons with the Pirates, hitting .203/.261/.281 in 69 plate appearances. With Indianapolis this season, he was hitting .287/.367/.549 in 33 games, placing him second on the team in OPS and first in slugging.

Once the Pirates acquired John Nogowski, an older player with less success both in the majors and Triple-A, it appeared that Craig’s time with the team was done. Nogowski has played well in his brief time in Pittsburgh, so that seemed to seal the deal.
