Game Recap:  Altoona won 9-4 over Richmond on Wednesday afternoon behind a big day at the plate for Oneil Cruz. He went 4-for-5 with a triple and his fifth homer. He scored twice and drove in four runs. Cruz also stole three bases to give him seven steals on the season. Travis MacGregor got the start and he gave up two runs over five innings while allowing just one hit. He threw 71 pitches, 46 going for strikes. MacGregor had five strikeouts, giving him a 2.89 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 18.2 innings. Cam Vieaux allowed two runs in two innings, while Hunter Stratton and Will Gardner each tossed a scoreless frame. Stratton has allowed one in 12 innings, while picking up 24 strikeouts.

Ji-Hwan Bae reached base three times in this game and scored all three times. He stole his fifth base. Cal Mitchell drove in two runs with his fifth double of the season. Jonah Davis had a single, two walks and an RBI. Raul Hernandez had two hits and an RBI. Rodolfo Castro walked three times and stole his third base.

Game Recap: Braxton Ashcraft got off to a strong start on Wednesday, allowing one run over four innings, before things fell apart in the fifth. He faced four batters in the inning and all four reached base, two on hit-by-pitches. Ashcraft left with a 4-2 score and reliever Will Kobos allowed all three inherited runners to score. Ashcraft has a 3.54 ERA now after entering the day with a 1.65 mark in his first four starts. Kobos tossed two shutout frames of his own, then Austin Roberts allowed five runs (two earned) in the seventh inning. Garrett Leonard gave up three runs over the final two innings. Greensboro lost 13-7, dropping them to a 12-14 record.

Liover Peguero had just a single, but he drove in three runs. His hit was an RBI single in the seventh inning. He also brought in runs with RBI ground outs in the third and fifth innings. Jesus Valdez went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Matt Fraizer had a single, triple, walk, RBI and two runs scored. Aaron Shackelford had two hits and an RBI. He has 16 RBIs on the season. Jack Herman is hitting .115 and he’s 1-for-22 in his last six games. He has struck out in half of his at-bats (26 K’s in 52 ABs).

Game Recap:  Santiago Florez was unhittable in his last outing, allowing just one runner on a hit-by-pitch in five innings last week. He gave up a few more runners this week, but he was nearly as good. He tossed six shutout innings on two hits and two walks, while striking out ten batters. His previous career high for strikeouts in a game was seven, which he did five times, including three times this year. He now has 37 strikeouts in 23.2 innings this year. Parker Brahms followed with two no-hit/scoreless innings, walking three and striking out four batters. Enmanuel Mejia retired the side in order in the ninth on three strikeouts, throwing 15 pitches.

Bradenton won this game 1-0 on a solo homer by Endy Rodriguez in the fourth inning. He has five homers and 15 RBIs this season. The only other hit by the Marauders was a single by Sergio Campana, who was thrown trying to steal immediately afterwards. Hudson Head drew three walks. He has walked 20 times in 23 games.

Blake Sabol has been placed on the 7-day injured list.
