Pirates Recall Cole Tucker; Ka’ai Tom Placed on Injured List

The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled shortstop Cole Tucker ahead of Friday’s game against the Atlanta Braves. Ka’ai Tom is headed to the injured list with a left wrist contusion, which opened up a spot on the active roster.

The 24-year-old Tucker was hitting .214/.302/.339 in 14 games at Indianapolis. He has a .216/.260/.324 slash line in 93 big league games over the 2019-20 seasons. All of his action this year has been at shortstop.

Tom is hitting .200/.364/.300 in 16 games with the Pirates. He was 1-for-16 in nine games with the Oakland A’s before joining the Pirates.

Troy Stokes Jr has cleared waivers and been assigned to Indianapolis. He was designated for assignment earlier this week after going 2-for-18 in eight games for the Pirates.
