The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded relief pitcher Sean Poppen to the Tampa Bay Rays for cash considerations. He was designated for assignment on Thursday. The 27-year-old Poppen made three appearances for the Pirates this season. He allowed four runs over 4.2 innings. The Pirates claimed him off of waivers from the Minnesota Twins on October 1, 2020. In 13 big league appearances over three seasons, he has a 6.53 ERA and a 1.98 WHIP in 20.2 innings.
