Pirates Place Gregory Polanco on 10-Day Injured List; Add Hunter Owen to Active Roster

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed Gregory Polanco on the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday night’s game against the San Diego Padres. Hunter Owen has been added to the active roster. The Pirates 40-man roster is full, so there should be another move coming. No reason was given for Polanco’s IL trip. He is batting .200/.289/.350 in 24 games.

Owen played well in Altoona in 2019, but struggled after getting promoted to Triple-A, hitting .192/.297/.325 in 42 games. He was with the Pirates for most of Spring Training this year, putting up a .616 OPS in 20 games. The 27-year-old plays all four corner spots and he has caught in the minors. His best position is third base. His addition could be temporary with Ke’Bryan Hayes reportedly close to returning.
