Live Game Discussion: Pirates at Padres, 10:10 PM; Pirates Release Brian Goodwin

The Pittsburgh Pirates (12-15) are on the road for three games against the San Diego Padres (16-13), starting tonight at 10:10 PM. Tyler Anderson will be on the mound for his sixth start. He has a 3.38 ERA in 26.2 innings, with 26 strikeouts and a 1.24 WHIP. The Padres are countering with 26-year-old right-handed pitcher Miguel Diaz, who is pitching his first game in the majors since June of 2019, when he made five relief appearances.

The Pirates signed catcher Christian Bethancourt to a minor league deal on Monday.

The Pirates added Michael Feliz from the injured list and sent out Sean Poppen to the alternate site.

The tax squad for this series includes Jason Delay, Hunter Owen, Kyle Keller, Shea Spitzbarth and James Marvel

****We are looking for input with the discussion posts with the minor league season starting on Tuesday. Tomorrow we will post the Prospect Watch article prior to the start of games. All four full-season affiliates are playing tomorrow, with the first game starting at 6 PM. We will also have the Live Game Discussion post for the Pirates game at 10:10 PM. The ideas being thrown out are either keeping them separate or having one live discussion post that goes up in the morning and lasts for the entire day. The Pirates live discussion would remain the same if we go the first way, while the Prospect Watch article would get updated with game recaps as they end. We are open to suggestions though, so please leave them in the comment section below.****

Here are the lineups:

UPDATE: Jake Crouse is reporting that Brian Goodwin has been released. He had an opt out clause in his contract that kicked in at some point in May, so it appears that he took that option.
