Updated Draft Prospect Rankings from MLB Pipeline

Yesterday we shared a link from MLB Pipeline, looking at their latest mock draft. The Pittsburgh Pirates went with Jack Leiter in that mock, a pick selected by Jim Callis. Today we take a quick look at the updated top 150 draft prospects according to Pipeline, which can be found here.

Jack Leiter, the right-hander from Vanderbilt, is the new #1 draft prospect, taking the top spot away from his fellow teammate Kumar Rocker, who is also in the Vanderbilt rotation. Rocker dropped down to the third spot in this latest update, also getting passed over by prep shortstop Jordan Lawlar. That’s not really a bad sign for Rocker, as Leiter has been absolutely dominating this year and Lawlar is considered by some to be even better than Leiter. If anything, this year is a great year to have a top three (maybe even top four) pick, because right now they all have top of the draft class potential.

We have shared plenty of videos of Rocker and Leiter, and Lawlar has been here in video form as well. So here are looks at the next two players on Pipeline’s list from today, both prep shortstops, which is obviously a position of strength in 2021.
