Probably the last thing Pirate fans needed to hear was that Ke’Bryan Hayes had a setback in his rehab, so of course that’s what’s happened. Hayes aggravated his wrist injury taking a swing, so he’s headed back to Pittsburgh for evaluation. Nothing further for now, but it’s probably safe to assume that Hayes will be out for a good while longer.
And just to pile on, Jared Oliva has suffered an oblique strain and will be out about a month. Not that the Pirates need any outfield help . . . .
