Last week I mentioned that our Draft Prospect Watch articles would start later this year because the MLB draft has been pushed back five weeks this year, taking place during the All-Star break. I also pointed out that since the Pittsburgh Pirates picked first, there wouldn’t be as many players to cover this year, since right now there is a small group of possibilities for the pick. I did all of that stuff in a Draft Prospect Watch article (noting the irony), and here we are again posting another Draft Prospect Watch article. The reason is simple really. Vanderbilt has two of the potential first overall picks and they went on the same day again this week. I also mentioned in that article that if you don’t follow Rob Friedman aka Pitching Ninja on Twitter, you’re not taking full advantage of Twitter. He proved once again that he is a must follow, especially if you want to follow the draft. So here’s a look at Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter from yesterday. All I added were their stats and put it in article form. Pitching Ninja provided the rest.
Kumar Rocker went five innings against Georgia State, allowing three hits and three walks, with six strikeouts. He threw 84 pitches. Here are his three strikeout pitches from one inning:

Jack Leiter also went five shutout innings and he threw 94 pitches. He allowed three hits, with four walks and seven strikeouts. Neither pitcher has allowed a run in their two starts. Here are the highlights:

Hopefully this holds you over until the Draft Prospect Watch articles start.
