The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson. To make room on the 40-man roster, they’ve transferred right-handed pitcher Jose Soriano to the 60-day IL.
Anderson should get a shot at the rotation, and will add to the team’s rotation depth if he can’t crack the starting five. Soriano is a Rule 5 pick, recovering from Tommy John surgery. He’s expected to miss at least half the season, and could bring his triple-digit fastball to the big leagues at some point late in the year.
