Winter Leagues: Bligh Madris Goes Deep in Brisbane Victory

Not much going on in winter ball now, but we have an impressive highlight to share. In winter league action from Australia on Thursday, Bligh Madris went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer. He also picked up an outfielder assist. Here’s the home run…which just landed right now as you’re reading this.

Brandan Bidois pitched the final two innings of his team’s win, allowing two runs on one hit and three walks, while striking out four batters. He threw 47 pitches, with 22 going for strikes. In five appearances, the 19-year-old right-hander has given up six runs over ten innings, with seven hits, six walks and ten strikeouts.

On Friday, Madris went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. He’s now hitting .260/.348/.429 in 24 games this winter.

The playoffs in Australia begin on Tuesday. The Perth Heat (Robbie Glendinning, Beau Sulser) have off this weekend, but they will be in the playoffs.
