MLB Pipeline released their list of the top 100 prospects late on Thursday night and they have four Pittsburgh Pirates among the top 64 slots. This is the fourth list we have covered so far, with Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus and Keith Law (link includes all previous links as well) all releasing their lists. After we see the list from Fangraphs, we will post a look at the average rankings for the Pirates.
Pipeline started where everyone else started so far, putting Ke’Bryan Hayes among the top 15 prospects in the game. He ranks ninth overall for them, his second highest ranking. He’s the only consensus top 100 prospect for the Pirates after four lists.
Hayes was followed on the list by 2020 first round pick Nick Gonzales, who ranks 43rd overall. This is also the second highest ranking for him. Gonzales has made three of the four top 100 lists so far.
Next up was Quinn Priester, who ranks 52nd overall for Pipeline. He ranked 58th for Baseball America and 73rd for Law, but did not make the Prospectus list.
Finally, Oneil Cruz ranks 64th overall. He was rated 50th for Baseball America, but didn’t make the other two lists.
Pipeline posted a team-by-team breakdown of the top 100, which shows that the Pirates at least have the best showing here among NL Central clubs.
