Winter Leagues: Beau Sulser Puts Up Another Strong Start in Australia

On Tuesday night in Australia, Beau Sulser made his third start of the winter and pitched six shutout innings on four hits, with no walks and four strikeouts. He has thrown a total of 15 innings, allowing one run on eight hits, with one walk and 11 strikeouts.

Robbie Glendinning started at third base for the first time and he went 1-for-4 with a run scored. He’s batting .268/.375/.439 in 12 games.

Bligh Madris faced Sulser in his first game of a Tuesday doubleheader and had an 0-for-3 game. He grounded into a double play and flew out to right field in his two match-ups versus Sulser. In game two of the doubleheader, Madris had another 0-for-3 performance. He’s hitting .256/.293/.385 in 13 games.

The Dominican winter league finals ended on Monday night without three Pirates available. Oneil Cruz was shut down by the Pirates after a minor back injury had him sitting out a game last week, so he wasn’t available to return for the final three games. Pitchers Edgar Santana and Yerry De Los Santos both missed the final 2-3 games due to positive COVID test results.
