As reported by Aaron Shortridge on his own Instagram account, he is now recovering from Tommy John surgery that he had in the past week, which will cost him the entire 2021 season. Shortridge spent the 2020 season at the Alternate Training Site in Altoona. He was in Bradenton in 2019, where he had a 3.25 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP and a 104:25 SO/BB ratio over 135.2 innings and 24 starts. He was the fourth round pick of the Pirates in 2018 out of the University of California. Shortridge had a 2.67 ERA in 30.1 innings with Morgantown in 2018.
