Pirates Trade Nik Turley to Oakland A’s for Cash Considerations

The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded left-handed pitcher Nik Turley to the Oakland A’s for cash considerations. Turley was designated for assignment on Tuesday when the Pirates picked up outfielder Troy Stokes Jr. off of waivers from the Detroit Tigers.

In 25 appearances in 2020, the 31-year-old Turley had a 4.98 ERA and a 3.88 FIP in 21.2 innings, with a 20:11 SO/BB ratio and a 1.11 WHIP. He missed all of 2018-19 with a suspension/injury, before making the Opening Day roster this past season. His only other big league experience came with the Minnesota Twins in 2017 when he had an 11.21 ERA in ten appearances.
