From Mexico on late Thursday night, Fabricio Macias went 1-for-4 with a run scored, stolen base and a sacrifice bunt. He is 4-for-19 in five playoff games.
Randy Romero played in his fourth playoff game and it started the same as his first three appearances. He has been a late-inning defensive replacement four times in center field. He didn’t get a chance to hit in either of the first two games. He popped out to first base in his lone chance in game three, then he picked up an RBI in game four on a suicide squeeze. Romero went all of the way to third base due to a throwing error.
From the Dominican on Friday, Oneil Cruz went 1-for-4 with a single, stolen base, two strikeouts and his first error of the playoffs. He is 5-for-14 (.357) in four playoff games.
Edgar Santana had a rough outing, giving up two runs on three hits, while recording just one out. In his previous two playoff appearances combined, he allowed one hit and no walks over two scoreless innings.
Cruz and Santana, along with Yerry De Los Santos, are all on Gigantes del Cibao, and their team advanced to the Dominican league finals with their win tonight.
