On Thursday in Australia, the Perth/Brisbane game pitted 2019 Altoona Curve players on each side. Robbie Glendinning started at shortstop for Perth and he went 0-for-2 with a walk, two strikeouts and a run scored. That left him 5-for-17 in the first five games. He has a .294/.353/.400 slash line in 20 plate appearances.
Bligh Madris went 2-for-3 with a single, double and a strikeout for Brisbane. He’s hitting .273/.333/.636 in 12 plate appearances through four games.
In the Dominican on Thursday, Oneil Cruz went 0-for-3 with an RBI, walk and strikeout. In three playoff games, he is 4-for-10 with three walks. He homered in his playoff opener, then had three hits on Wednesday.
Richard Rodriguez pitched his second game and things didn’t go well. After allowing one run during a one-inning outing in his first game, he gave up two runs on four hits, while recording just one out. He also threw a wild pitch. He served up a homer to Jordany Valdespin, then allowed two three singles, while recording a strikeout in the middle of the damage. Rodriguez was helped out when reliever Luis Castillo came on and got a game-ending double play off of the bat of Yasiel Puig, stranding two inherited runners from Rodriguez in the process.
