Joe Musgrove Trade Market Heats Up

According to Jon Heyman, the trade talks for Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Joe Musgrove have heated up after teams lost out on the chance to get Blake Snell. The former Cy Young winner from the Tampa Bay Rays was dealt to the San Diego Padres last night for a package of prospects.

Musgrove has two more years of control left after posting a 3.86 ERA/3.42 FIP in 39.2 innings over eight starts, with a 55:16 SO/BB ratio and a 1.24 WHIP. In three seasons with the Pirates, the 28-year-old Musgrove has accumulated 3.6 WAR. He has a 4.23 ERA/3.69 FIP and a 1.21 WHIP in 325.1 innings during that time.
