On Saturday in the Dominican, Gregory Polanco served as the DH and he went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and an intentional walk. He had a big game on Sunday while playing right field, going 1-for-2 with his first triple, three RBIs, two walks and his first stolen base. Polanco is hitting .128/.244/.333 in 11 games this winter.
Yerry De Los Santos faced one batter on Saturday and got an inning ending double play. In three appearances this winter, he has thrown three perfect innings while facing eight batters. He has five strikeouts.
In Mexico on Saturday, Fabricio Macias went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and a walk. He hit his seventh double and stole his fifth base in five attempts. On Sunday, Macias went 0-for-3, but he reached base on a walk and a hit-by-pitch, plus he picked up an RBI. He is hitting .247/.311/.392 in 30 games. Last winter in Mexico, Macias hit .257/.303/.347 in 35 games.
The league in Puerto Rico begins tomorrow and it appears that they are playing with four teams this winter. The full rosters haven’t been released yet, but I don’t know of any current Pirates playing in the league.
The Australian Baseball League opens up in nine days with at least five Pirates in the league, Robbie Glendinning, Bligh Madris, Beau Sulser, Solomon Maguire and Brandan Bidois.
