As John noted on twitter, the Pirates have outrighted Nick Burdi to Indianapolis and released Dovydas Neverauskas. On the latter, there’ve been rumors that Neverauskas will signed with an unspecified team in Asia.
Burdi was designated for assignment back on November 1, so he must have cleared waivers. We had some discussion of this earlier, but I also assume it means the Rule 5 requirements have gone away through some means or other. I’ve given up trying to figure it out, but as long as he’s still with the organization that’s good. He’s going to miss all next year due to his second Tommy John surgery that the Pirates kept secret under their new policy of increased transparency. It’s hard to be optimistic after all he’s been through, but it’d be great if he made it back and did so with the Bucs.
