First Pitch: Your World Series Thoughts

The sixth game of the World Series takes place tonight between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays, with the Dodgers up 3-2 in the series. The Dodgers have a chance to break a 32-year drought, while the Rays need to win the final two games to capture their first title. I’m wondering about the level of interest here from Pittsburgh Pirates fans, so I’m going to leave a little questionnaire. Part of the interest comes from the low TV ratings for the series, though they are in line with the declines from all sports during the last few months. If other sports were doing well, it would be more of a concern I’m sure. Anyway, here are the questions, comment below.

Do you plan on watching tonight?

If so, are you only watching because the series could end tonight or have you been watching all along?

Would you like to see a game seven, regardless of who wins?

As Pirates fans, did the starts by Tyler Glasnow and Charlie Morton have more interest to you?

As a Pirates fan, were their poor performances in all three games too real for you, making it feel like they never left? (you don’t have to answer this question, we already know the answer)

Personally I’m just looking to get into the off-season so there is some actual news to report. Rosters will be set soon, the Rule 5 draft will follow during the Winter Meetings, the Pirates will make off-season moves to make their team stronger (this one might not actually happen, but I’m sure they will sign people, possibly baseball players). I can’t wait for winter leagues to start so there will be actual prospect news. I’m especially looking forward to seeing highly touted international signing Solomon Maguire take on much older competition in Australia this winter. Assuming he gets decent playing time, that’s going to be fun to follow, especially since ABL games stream on YouTube.

Back to the World Series. I’ll be checking the score tonight every half hour or so and if the Dodgers are winning in the ninth, I’ll probably tune in to see the ending. I don’t care which team wins, I was just rooting against the Yankees and Astros this postseason and anyone winning was fine. If it makes it to game seven, I’ll likely watch most of the game.
