Ke’Bryan Hayes Named NL Rookie of the Month

Ke’Bryan Hayes has been named as the National League Rookie of the Month for September. Earlier today, we posted an article from MLB Pipeline in which Hayes was rated as the sixth best rookie for 2020.

Hayes joined the Pirates on September 1st for his Major League debut and led all rookies in batting average, slugging and OPS. For the month, he hit .376/.442/.682, with seven doubles, two triples, five homers and nine walks in 95 plate appearances. He committed one error in 24 starts at third base.

The last Pirates player to win Rookie of the Month was Austin Meadows in May of 2018. Jung-Ho Kang, Gerrit Cole, Garrett Jones, Pedro Alvarez, Zach Duke (2x) and Jason Bay (3x) are all past Rookie of the Month winners for the Pirates.
