The Pittsburgh Pirates (19-40) take on the Cleveland Indians (34-25) in the final game of the 2020 season. The Pirates won 8-0 on Saturday night. JT Brubaker gets the start today, going up against right-handed pitcher Cal Quantrill. Brubaker has a 4.46 ERA in 42.1 innings, with 45 strikeouts and a 1.32 WHIP. As a side note for anyone wondering, Brubaker will be eligible for the Rookie of the Year award next year, as long as he doesn’t pitch 8+ innings today. Quantrill has made two starts and 15 relief appearances this year. He has a 2.17 ERA in 29 innings, with 29 strikeouts and a 1.21 WHIP.
Pirates have added Andrew Susac to the roster and he’s in the starting lineup. Sounds like they are rewarding him for his strong presence in Altoona this year with a group of young pitchers. Jacob Stallings was placed on the 7-day DL for concussions and Keone Kela was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster.
