Live Game Discussion: Pirates vs Cardinals, 4:05 PM, Game One

The Pittsburgh Pirates (15-34) take on the St Louis Cardinals (22-24) in a Friday doubleheader at PNC Park. The Pirates won the opener of a five-game series last night. Trevor Williams will be on the mound in game one going up against right-handed pitcher Carlos Martinez. Williams will be making his tenth start of the season. He has a 6.35 ERA in 45.1 innings, with 42 strikeouts and a 1.63 WHIP. Martinez has made three starts and struggled in all of them. He has a 10.32 ERA in 11.1 innings, with 13 strikeouts and a 2.12 WHIP.

There will be a separate Live Game Discussion for the second game. I’ll post it as soon as the lineups are made available. The Pirates added outfielder Jason Martin as the 29th man for the doubleheader.
