The Pittsburgh Pirates (14-30) take on the Cincinnati Reds (21-26) in a Monday doubleheader. The Pirates were swept by the Kansas City Royals over the weekend. Game one will feature Cody Ponce going up against right-handed pitcher Trevor Bauer. Ponce will be making his third start, to go along with two relief appearances. He was added as the 29th man for this game. He has a 3.46 ERA in 13 innings, with nine strikeouts and a 1.15 WHIP. Bauer has a 1.74 ERA in 52.1 innings over eight starts, with 71 strikeouts and an 0.79 WHIP. He faced the Pirates back on September 4th and allowed one earned run over six innings.
We will have a separate game discussion for the second game, which will feature the return of Mitch Keller.
