The Pittsburgh Pirates (14-29) take on the Kansas City Royals (19-28) in the finale of a three-game series, looking to avoid the sweep. The Pirates lost 7-4 last night. Chad Kuhl will be on the mound, matched up against right-handed pitcher Brad Keller. Kuhl will be making his seventh start of the season. He has a 3.38 ERA in 32 innings, with 28 strikeouts and a 1.28 WHIP. Keller has made six starts this year, posting a 2.60 ERA in 34.2 innings, with 24 strikeouts and a 1.10 WHIP.
Mitch Keller is coming back tomorrow according to Derek Shelton. The Pirates have a doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds. Keller has been out since early August, with only 7.2 innings pitched this season. He isn’t fully stretched out yet to start, but this will allow him to make three starts before the season ends, even if the innings/pitch counts will be somewhat limited.
