The Pittsburgh Pirates (14-28) take on the Kansas City Royals (18-28) in a three-game set at Kauffman Stadium, with game two tonight at 7:35 PM. The Pirates lost 4-3 yesterday. Trevor Williams gets the ball tonight, going up against right-handed pitcher Carlos Hernandez. Williams will be making his ninth start. He has a 5.80 ERA in 40.1 innings, with 38 strikeouts and a 1.51 WHIP. Hernandez has never started a big league game. He has pitched just twice in relief, allowing one run over 6.1 innings.
This was originally a 7:05 PM game, but things happen
Pirates are delayed at team hotel in KC as there’s a standoff with a shooting suspect in the Arrowhead parking lot adjacent to Royals Stadium. Team is on hold, understandably.
