The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed outfielder Anthony Alford on the 45-day IL and have recalled Jason Martin from the alternate training site in Altoona.
Alford went down with a fractured elbow after providing one of the few bright spots in the 2020 Pittsburgh Pirates season.
Martin, who just turned 25-years-old yesterday, could get a chance for more playing time down the stretch. He went 0-for-6 with a walk in his previous time up in the majors this year, and had a .631 OPS in 40 plate appearances in 2019.
