Multiple reports are out saying that the Pittsburgh Pirates will recall third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes prior to tomorrow’s home game at PNC Park against the Chicago Cubs. Hayes is currently the top prospect in the Pirates system and he’s been recognized as a top 50-60 prospect in baseball by most sources over the last two years.
The 23-year-old Hayes spent 2019 playing for Indianapolis, where he hit .265/.336/.415 in 110 games. He won his third straight Gold Glove award, which is only given to one player at each position across all of the minors. He was the first round draft pick (32nd overall) in the 2015 draft. Hayes has been in Altoona at the Alternate Training Site since the 2020 season started. He missed the beginning of Spring Training 2.0 due to a positive COVID-19 result.
We will have more on him tomorrow.
