The New York Mets have claimed outfielder Guillermo Heredia from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Heredia was designated for assignment on Monday to make room on the roster for right-handed pitcher Carson Fulmer.
The 29-year-old Heredia was signed as a free agent over the off-season after hitting .225/.306/.363 in 89 games for the Tampa Bay Rays last year. This season for the Pirates, he hit .188/.278/.188 in eight games.
He’s the second outfielder lost today after Jarrod Dyson was dealt to the Chicago White Sox earlier this morning.
