Pirates Acquire Left-Handed Pitcher Austin Davis from the Phillies

The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired left-handed pitcher Austin Davis from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for a player to be named later and cash considerations. Davis was designated for assignment on Friday.

The 27-year-old Davis has pitched in the majors in each of the last three seasons, compiling a 5.86 ERA in 58.1 innings over 50 relief appearances. He has a 1.61 WHIP, a 5.08 FIP and a 64:27 SO/BB ratio. In four appearances in 2020, he allowed seven runs on ten hits and a walk in three innings. Davis has pitched well in Triple-A, posting a 2.69 ERA over 83.2 innings and 61 appearances. He throws a fastball that reaches mid-90s and pairs it was a slider and changeup.
